Maclellan
Maclellan Foundation · the fifth-generation steward who chose the covenant when he could have set it down
He did not inherit a fortune so much as a question his great-great-grandfather first asked over a ledger of coal miners and furnace men the industry had crossed out as too dangerous to cover — are these lives worth covering? Thomas wrote them back in, and every Maclellan since has had to answer that same question fresh, or the whole thing ends. Chris went to Wheaton, earned a Darden MBA, and had every door open to simply enjoy the money; instead he picked up the hundred-thirty-year burden, made it his own, and now lies awake over whether his four sons will choose it too.
The drawing is how we see them; the photograph is the proof we looked.
